We enjoy going to Sun Retreats Gun Lake RV Resort in Hopkins, Michigan. Close to Gun Lake Casino, Grand Rapids, and Kalamazoo just off 131 this RV Park is located in a great spot. But, Sun Retreats Gun Lake is high class with so much to offer.

Where is Sun Retreats Gun Lake Located?

Sun Retreats Gun Lake is conveniently located North of Kalamazoo and South of Grand Rapids just off US 131. From I-94 take 131 North to Exit 59. The RV Park is on the West side and can be seen from the highway. The RV Park is minutes away from Yankee Springs State Park and Gun Lake. Heading West the RV Park is less than an hour from Lake Michigan and Saugatuck Dunes State Park.

What are the Campsites like at Sun Retreats Gun Lake?

There are a variety of pull in, back in, pull thru, and cottage sites for you to rent. The big rigs are generally in the pull in section at the front of the park. However, there are some pull thrus in the back of the park that some of the big rigs like to spend the night Every site that we’ve seen has full hookup with 50/30/20amp service, water, and cable tv. All sites have a concrete pad, picnic table, and elevated fire pit. Wifi is available and better than most rv parks but still has limited bandwidth and mobile hotspots tend to work better.

Are Dogs Allowed at Sun Retreats Gun Lake?

Yes, as you enter the gated RV park, look up the hill to the right to find the spacious fenced in dog park. There are waste bags everywhere. Dogs are welcome throughout the park. There are hiking trails on the property as well as large grass locations and forest edge for you and your pet to walk. All pet breeds are welcome as long as they are well behaved and stay on a leash under their owner's control.

Does Sun Retreats Gun Lake Have a Pool?

The main “entertainment” complex is in the middle of the resort. The pool area has a hottub for older teens and adults a huge heated pool and splash pad. The pool area has locker rooms with toilets and showers and attached laundry facility.

What is there to do at Sun Retreats Gun Lake?

Next to the pool are pickle ball and basketball courts. The surface is a sportcourt and fun to play on. Across from the pool is the campground store where you can purchase prepared food, snacks, ice cream, drinks, slushies, rv accessories, fishing live bait, and rent paddles, and sports equipment. Attached to the store is an arcade with 7-10 games including air hockey. Next to the arcade is the bounce pillow.

What Else is there to do at Sun Retreats Gun Lake?

The clubhouse is for adults and includes a library, bar, ping pong, foosball, pool tables, card tables, and exercise facility. Behind the clubhouse are hiking trails. Also at the clubhouse is the sand volleyball court and the beach with fishing dock, community fire pit, and canoes, kayaks, and paddle boat. There are two ponds that allow for catch and release fishing. There are a lot of sunfish that like red worms. We have also caught bass.

What Local Attractions are Near Sun Retreats Gun Lake?

Sun Retreats Gun Lake is a great camping location for all that West Michigan has to offer including Van Andel Arena, Gilmore Car Museum, two zoos, Kalamazoo Air Zoo, Lake Michigan beaches and state parks, Golfing, wineries, distilleries, and breweries and Gun Lake Casino is about five minutes away. With all this resort has to offer and its location you will not be disappointed with your stay.
